Adverse media screening with a source for every hit
An analyst types each name into a search engine and a few news sites, in two or three languages. They read what comes up, decide what is relevant, and copy the links into the KYC file by hand. Obscure local names take the longest and are the easiest to miss.
The system searches live news and public sources for every name in the file, in French, Dutch and English. Each hit comes back with its link, its date and the exact passage. Nothing is written from memory, and a name with no hits says so plainly. Your analyst reviews the shortlist and makes the call. The search method is documented, so the same check can be rerun and shown to an auditor.
